McKinley composed these etudes during the winter of 2004 into early 2005 for one of his friends, the New England based pianist David Pihl. As with much of the etudes in the literature, each one explores a different challenge/technique on which pianist explores through different musical moods and affections. Pianists are free to choose any number or order for performance.
